Search in Deep Networks

I would argue that all of it is still a search. Just like you said a topology problem of data sets you searching the data sets for valuable data and also the actual optimization of neural networks is a kind of search for the cat ears. In deep networks they look at layers and they don't even know it's represented. And yet if you take the layers out it doesn't work. So I don't think it's search. But you have to talk to my mathematician about what that actually is. Oh we could disagree but the it's just semantics I think it's not but it's certainly not.
