Exercise does increase glucose metabolism in the brain. People who are genetically predisposed to developing Alzheimer's disease, almost across the lifespan, have a slightly reduced capacity to generate ATP from glucose. You want to increase the sort of saving account of your glucose by increasing your lean muscle mass. And maybe that has some sort of knock on effect.
