The Complexity of the Reformation

A century after Luther lobbed the 95 theses into Europe's religious discourse, there were Calvin-inspired congregationalists in Scotland and Anglicans duking it out with more Calvin-inspired Puritans. So this was a bewilderingly confusing landscape. And how it got to be that complex is just as confusing. How a few recent historians and the books they've written have tried to communicate that complexity and how well they've succeeded.
