The Four Main Branchings of the Internal Carotid Artery
Dr. Jasney: Do you mind reviewing for our listeners the four main branches off the internal carotid artery? All right. Kevin, thank you for the question. As we were briefly discussing offline, it really depends on what level of detail you want to go into. The anterior cerebral artery will classically be this strip along the frontal and superior aspect of the brain. Infarcts of this area are damaged to this area, commonly associated with leg weakness more than arm weakness which is unusual for other stroke syndromes.
