The Role of Cellular Senescence in Aging
The idea of cellular senescence is a new concept. It goes back to Hay Flix work in 1961 where cells will only divide so many times before they'll just stop, right? So that's been known about for 60 years but what happened around 2010 was the recognition that these senescence cells seem to be a big part of the aging-ish damage control. And then in 2015, scripts in Mayo found that selectively removing them could rejuvenate tissues.
