The sense of self the ordinary sense of subjectivity is being interrupted all the time it's just not being noticed to be interrupted there. We're actually functionally blind in these brief moments as we move our eyes and we don't notice it, he says. He adds that much of our feeling of selfhood is is interrupted in that kind of punctate way throughout the day and only in retrospect when we're reflecting on it or recoiling back into self can this sense of egocentricity become quite vivid.
