Peter Gullwitzer has studied the best way to structure our plans so that they'll be memorable. He says if thing X happens then I will follow through then I will execute my plan. A memory palace is such a trick and you can learn to remember up to 10 or 15 items on a list by using this technique. It's more likely that it'll trigger your memory and you won't just flake out on the activity.
