VLDL, very low density lipoprotein, is synthesized in the liver. So it creates what are known as chylomicron remnants. Those remnants can be atherogenic because their size has been depleted. And then we have VLDL1 and 2, V LDL1 is just large enough again, not to be able to penetrate but VLDL2, smaller VLDL can. The properties from a kind of chemical perspective or that make these compounds what they are, paradoxically is also what can make them deadly if they get to the wrong place. And the wrong place in this case is into our artery wall.
