The Effects of Glycogen on Muscle Growth
Glycogen is more efficient fuel than exogenous carbohydrates or than ingested carbohydrates. You get more energy for one gram of glycogen than you get from one gram of glucose. People were able to on average oxidize more of ingested carbohydrates when the dose was higher, but this did not result in glycogen sparing. So at the end of three hours, glycogen stores will be equally depleted.
