Pausing Is a Pathway to Compassion
There's actually a very famous study. It's the good samaritan study, where essentially folks who were giving talks, i think they were in seminary like, giving talks on being good samaritans. They did studies where they tested whether they were interrupted by somebody actually needing their help and if they would pause to be compassionate. And the difference was, if they were pressed for time, if they thought that this was going to make them be late for their talk, they were less likely to be helpers than when time was not a factor.
