The story of the orange illustrates a bunch of things, but I guess especially positions and interests. There's two little girls on the end of the kitchen; they're fighting over an orange. Dad comes in, sees them fighting over the orange,. So he does the fairest thing he can think to do: He cuts it in half. The next day he comes up to the first sister, and he says, how did it go? And the sister says, you know, I see how what you did was fair.
In this episode, we sit down with negotiation expert Misha Glouberman who explains how to talk to people about things -- that is, how to avoid the pitfalls associated with debate when two or more people attempt to come to an agreement that will be mutually beneficial.
