Is Cynicism Really Adaptable?
Cynicism is reinforcing, self-fulfilling in a sense that once you are cynic, it gets reinforced in many ways. We have this reputation or mechanism in society where we're like, cynics really know what's going on. If you want to be a public intellectual, you probably don't want to go around telling people how nice people are. Maybe not so much in America because we're more optimistic and, you know, American dream and have all these things.
