Do You Know What Project Retro Is?

Project Retro was a missile defense plan in the 1960s. It involved strapping about 1000 ICBM rockets to the ground horizontally. The idea is that when you detect an attack, you have your early warning system and then you press fire on these rockets. Because they're strapped to the Earth, they slow down the Earth's rotation just enough that the presumably Soviet missiles overshoot their target and fall in the sea or whatever.
