The Importance of Alternatives to the Individualist Learning Approaches
In the 1980s and 1990s, there was a pressing need to offer alternatives to individualist learning approaches that have dominated the field. The Eurocentric conception of mathematics is fine if you live in a European culture. But I don't feel like that is the most pressing need about understanding maths. It would be better to get everyone to use a reading method that works because we know loads of evidence for some reason - but why not focus on getting people to read?
