I think that what we experience is the result of getting rid of prediction errors. So if I'm fairly confident of my predictions, as my brain was in the case of the hollow mask illusion, for example, it's very confident of those predictions. And then I end up with actually a false visual experience as a result. There will be prediction errors, but they're not experienced. They're the things that let the brain recruit a better prediction.
