The cuban missile crisis was a key moment in the history of U.S.-Russia relations. The two leaders were locked in this stair off contest over who had more nuclear weapons. Kennedy made a deal with krusjeff to remove his missiles, but he didn't tell anyone about it for fear of being seen as compromising and losing re-election. It wasn't until recently that this information was revealed at the at the kennedy library.
