The Controlled Fade Is the Best Way to Run
The much celebrated negative split is the best way to run. But there's another strategy that may lead to a better result, and it's called the controlled fade. One study found that completing the first mile of a five k race between three to six % faster than the average race pace yielded the best results. Most pbs came from running the first five k goal race pace.
