The Importance of Slowing Down Tempo in Rituals and Practices

Rituals can take whatever is habitually present in us and amplify it so that we can have new insight into it. One of the means of doing that is through, you know, rhythm and tempo. When you slow down, you can see the different kind of schemas that are operative in your habitual way of doing things. And one of the pieces I just wanted to add on there was something like in the sudic tradition, sudicism or African American personalism. They don't see individuals as getting possessed and taken over by another entity, but that the rhythm allows you to possess certain heightened qualities and participate in them deliberately. It's a good bi-directional bridge
