Are You More Influential Than Your Colleague?

It's not uncommon at all for one software engineer to have 10 times the influence as their colleague. Politics is, if you think about it, an art of understanding who thinks what about which and then acting on it. Being political in the office just means being politically cognizant of what's going on. It doesn't at all mean being a player or being sincere or being manipulative.
