I have learned to not shy away from that and instead see myself get into the depths of that situation and then think my way out of it. Then that typically ends up making me train slightly differently or do something different in my preparation leading up to it because I've seen, okay, this could happen and how could I overcome it? And then I have this broad experience and I get there on race day where I'm like, all right, if this happens, I know to do this. That's really helpful also particularly in things like crit racing, where it's just so dynamic and dependent on other people. You should not go into it thinking that like my lead out will be perfect.
