Why Kids Are Mean to Me
When Joshua was in third grade, he told his parents that other kids were mean to him. He had been praised as gifted and highly intelligent by family members who didn't recognize some of the difficulties on his part. Parents should acknowledge their children's hard work rather than praise them for being smart or good at something they don't know how to do. This can enhance learning and also allow them to stick with the issues that they need to be working on.
