The Importance of Eating
Another technique to use in eating is to consider the elements, this to develop detachment and wisdom into the emptiness of self or into the Brahmanic nature of all that you're doing. The Chinese when they do this in preparing a meal will take a portion of whatever food they've prepared for their own selves and make it as an offering on the Puja table. And I'll share with you one Buddhist chant, a Pali chant that's often used with food. So throughout the meal you keep to this mind-state of loving kindness, of compassion, of sharing whatever is there with all the beings in the universe.
