Is Ming Smith a Photographer?

Ming-Smet's work refutes a sense of her pictures being cerebral. Her modesty, I think, about what she does with photography is admirable. There's no sense of this being an ego project when one thinks about Ming-Smet’s pictures. It makes it so much easier in some ways to bear witness to her practice and their work because she thinks of this as beyond her.
