The struggle and the pain is what got you here. What got you here isn't going to get you to the next phase in your life. People hold on to coping mechanisms that work for them in the past. They keep doing the same thing that got them to where they are. It's a quagmire. Sometimes people can be lucky enough to have had mentors or bosses that modeled that behavior. But I would say that the majority of bosses are not very intentional or aware of the impact that they're having.
