The Importance of Leaving Room for Unexpected Ideas

There's a lot of debate in planning circles about, is the strategist's role to develop to or serve up a strategy. But do you leave room for an idea that was completely unexpected? I always think of it like a springboard - it's going to get you started. And yeah, I feel like it's getting, getting the creatives, giving them some fuel and getting them interested. The best things are a lovely, beautiful surprise as well.
