How to Select Loads on the Big Lifts During a Rehab Period

The test for grip strength is not like to hold the heaviest one rep max deadlift with a, you know, a regular sized barbell. If somebody said they wanted the absolute most well developed top end grip strength, I don't know that barbells would be a prominent feature of that person's training at all. And if I have somebody who's got a problem holding on to a deadlift, I think working the deadlift is probably the most time efficient way to improve their grip strength. How do you select loads on the big lifts during a rehab period? Just work up until you feel some discomfort and then go beyond that.
