strength training plays a key role in the development of an athlete's capacity. The brain is always going to match up with the amount of force that you are creating, and so it will recruit more motor units for whatever activity we do. A ballistics movement can be something that surprises the brain because it's not quite ready for what you're about to do. And those are the things that would have absolutely made me better in my ability on preams, bike races, sprints... i didn't have it I lost every single time.
