I was a starving actor, exactly. i was working am at the american express company as a stock boy down at lower broadway in manhattan. I got fired just a few weeks before christmas and went to live theatre by julian beck and judith melina who were two of my firster teachers. They were extremely involved in social justice work and political radicalism. You know, they were the first band the bombers and women strike for peace,. Am gosh, they were just a great source of inspiration to me. And then i think you, like a lot of people, you weren't, you became less religious, or less overtly religious, as you left home
