Does metabolic stress cause muscle growth?
The Chris and Paul Show
The Role of Metabolites in Hypertrophy
The table lights are doing, basically inside a muscle, you've got two types of two predominant types of T or groups of T mechanisms. They either sort of reduce the amount of ATP flowing into it, or they basically just cause it to slow down directly which is what acidosis is doing. So essentially, they're preserving our ability to generate mechanical tension towards the end of a set, which is basically the stimulus for hypertrophy. But ultimately, metabolites still aren't doing anything directly. They're just facilitating a scenario in which mechanical tension can be produced at a high enough level.
