When we have a higher rate of obesity, we have increased systemic inflammation. We're already in a pre-inflamed state as the excessive energy that's getting put into our fat cells sends out somewhat of a false distress signal to our immune system. Another issue here is an increase in the onset of immunosinescence. And thus we see this kind of trickle down effect of poor outcomes. All right, none of this sounds good but these are all things that are taking place.
