In critical care we talk a lot about fluids and basil pressors, but in some ways, i think antibiotics are even more important. As far as blindly starting folks on antebotics, i would avoid doing that unless the patient has septic shock or you really think t they have a specific focus of infection. The other major challenge here is differentiating colonization from infection.
