How Can We Get Students to Pay Attention?
Cognitive load theory refers to how teachers can get students to pay attention. Some of the information that comes to us, some of it is transient. We want to be a little bit more permanentin what students are paying attention to over a period of a lesson. It's enormously a central problem to teaching of how to direct and maintain attention. But equally, this is the gateway into longten memory. And we're talking three to five chunks of information thefore. Itsa very, very limited capacity.
