The Evolution of Genetic Sequencing
The technology that's allowed us to do this. Previously before the genetics enabled, you know, unlocking what was going on,. We had to culture these bugs in little petri dishes just like Fleming did. So it was that transition from culturing in plates, totally unknown, just hoping they grew and then you could work out what they were. It has taken quite a long time to get to its level of sophistication now where we can identify 70 to 80% of the organisms in some way.
