How to Ride the Days After Lifting
If you are doing threshold type intervals or just sub threshold, make sure you're wearing a heart rate monitor. When I have my athletes do any sort of threshold work where they should be right about or just below their lactate steady state or FTP, I look for that leveling of the heart rate. To see that, I bring their wattage down. The late onset muscle soreness is mostly caused by very damaging eccentric work that you do in the weight room,. which you really don't do on a bike.
