How Do You Choose an Attorney?

Law students negotiated a case where they represented the business people. They had law students represent the lawyers since they had a business person and an attorney. So we talked a little bit in class about negotiating with attorneys, negotiating against attorneys. I'd love to get your perspective on A, how you choosing an attorney because these guys are going to hire a number of different attorneys throughout their career. What criteria do you think about and then what have you learned throughout your career about working with attorneys?
