I Love You More Than Your Presence
There's a wonderful article about the French essayist Montaigne. In a truly loving relationship, which I have experienced, he's talking about this guy who was a very dear friend. If his absence is either pleasant or useful to him, then it delights me far more than his presence. And that's pretty extraordinary relationship. It's all about the happiness of the other person.
