Scarcity tactics tend to subvert critical thinking. Our instinct to gather resources, as kelly puts it, overrides our ability to consider whether the thing we're buying is something we actually need or even want. Think about people who are actually in real material poverty, or who come from historical generational drama and poverty, and then we use a trick like scarcity on them. It just seems to me to be so predatory.
