The Importance of Player-Oriented System Design
I was really surprised at as much fun as as we were having with the action it felt like the narrative and the story stuff was actually when we like really sat forward and tried to figure out what was going on. I think my core anxiety which was initially realized by the age of Conan personality simulation is that as procedural and system designers it's sometimes very easy to get caught up in the architecture of your beautiful system. The main job of a game designer is to give the players brain a world to inhabit and think about and come up with ideas for and then test. If you're not player oriented then your system is not serving its function.
