You could wait years for the organic traffic to show up. You need to be proactive about that, and actually, your organic strategy should start when you put up the website. And then organic has time to grow until organic becomes an important channel for you. Links are still very important, but they're not important in the sense that they used to be where people measure them by quantity. What you need are quality and relevant links.
