The Importance of Belief in Training

The first thing that the coach should ask an athlete is what do you personally believe? It's important to dig into their beliefs because they are really, really important. Coaches can abuse this power and miscommunicate or screw them up in a way that could be bad for athletes. But equally so, it seems that before we even worry about the physical application of training stress, we have to know what that emotional backdrop is. So it starts with the psychological and then the physiological afterwards.
