I Love Oysters

Last year, on a whim, I ordered myself a box of four dozen oysters that were overnighted to me FedEx from Island Creek Oyster Company in Massachusetts. Because oysters are oysters, the shipping is all overnight. And it seems to me that you kind of can't do any better for a holiday gift than giving somebody a whole bunch of super fresh oysters ready to be shucked and devoured. But on the other hand, you can do one of my favorite gift-giving moves, which is the two-part gift. Or if we want to get a little bit semiotic about it, the symbol and the object.
