You can literally watch the faces in the audience change when you bring up something that is obviously near and dear to their heart. A breathing technique that i think Andrew puberman has talked about is to not take the deep breaths that you're usually told to take like if you have nerves before talking they say take deep breaths. It's also good for making it relevant to at least one person and assuming that person isn't a total freakish outlier probably a lot of people. There's a whole other thing we could know too about body language and all that.
