The Importance of Self-Interest
Philosopher Plato says that once a person has left the cave, they need to go back in. Why? Because they alone have knowledge of the good and will be capable of making people inside the cave more attune to things other than just shadows. It's not totally clear what happens when the philosopher goes back into the cave. What we are told is that anyone who goes backinto the cave is going to have a really hard time.
