The Treaty of Breda - A Brief History

The marquis of montrose, defiant to the last, was hung, drawn and quartered. His head was posted on a spike at the gates of edinburgh. The remaining english royalist commanders hung around until december, but their cause died with the treaty of breda. So with montrose betrayed and the irish abandoned, charles the second was pinning all his hopes on the scottish covenanters. But it turned out to be a long road of providential hardships for oliver cromwell.
