The Importance of Auto-Regulation in Emotional Wellbeing
If we're insecure in our early attachment, we'll over rely on what's called self-soothing and self-stimulating behaviors. Those are auto-regulation, which means we won't turn to others over time if we feel distressed. Insecure children can actually develop amazing imaginations as a result of this,. like turning away from others from support. They can develop terrific fantasies, which is why so many people who grew up in insecure childhoods wind up to be amazing artists.
