People say they hit the plateau when you got to keep your muscles guessing. Is that a real thing? Keep your muscles guessing? No. There is something to be said for not allowing your body to adapt. It's like progressive overload, as this is basic principle. If you're not adding more or not changing something, at a certain point, then you'll stop making progress. Your body will adapt to it. You don't have to do it every time you go to the gym. I'll have the exact same work out for four weeks andprogress every week.
