The Effects of Training on Metabolic Efficiency

An untrained person's blood lactate level starts shooting up at about 50% of their max. That can be moved very nicely with training so that it's much closer to, you know, 80% 90% or something like that. And then another piece of it would be looking at their metabolic efficiency - how many calories are they using? It gives people a good sense of what their nutritional strategies could be in the race.
