If you design a comp plan that has you paying out more in commission than the sales that were earned to bring it in, that's on you. You need to either be honest and say, i screwed up. I can't pay this and know that you're oin to lose some sales drops, but you won't as many as if you just refused to pay it. But honestly, and i'm not even kitding, i know people. who literally fired people because they didn't have the money to pay out the commission.
