You're Carrying a Rock

A man and a thin stranger were walking along the road carrying rocks. They argued over who had the most valuable object, which turned out to be a ruby. A little gnome appeared from behind them saying he'd played a mean trick on both of them. The men threw down their rocks so that they would split in half when they hit the ground. Out flowed a river of ravenous white worms devouring them whole.
