Shame and shadow territory are intricately linked. We might really have these intentions of things that we want to be doing to support ourselves, but then we watch ourselves constantly going into avoidance patterns or self sabotaging. An example would be like someone who really wants to get into shape. It's like they have these intentions, they want to exercise and yet they might get a burst of energy around it and sign up. The New Year's resolution thing, they sign up and they go to the gym for maybe a week or two until they fall off. That pattern can happen over and over and over again.
